When she found out she would be meeting Hamilton at one of his races, Ludmilla thought it was the perfect time to practice her English. Still learning the language, she says she used an online translator to send the driver a message the day before the event.

“I thought about sending him a message so we could meet there. But I couldn’t write, so I went to Google Translate. I took the message I had written there and sent it to him,” she recalled. Excited, she waited for the English to confirm.

When the message arrived, it wasn’t what the singer had imagined: “He replied: ‘But I’m vegan and I work saving animals, so I’m against this kind of thing,'” Ludmilla explained. Without understanding what veganism had to do with the conversation, the project owner Numanice concluded that perhaps the pilot was simply “cold.”

But the questions kept coming back to her, and she got the idea to ask an English-speaking friend what had happened. “Was he cold to me? But what does it have to do with him being vegan? So I went to my English-speaking friend and sent him a printout of the conversation,” she says.

It was then that she realized her mistake and her friend burst out laughing.
