Scientific study measured viewers’ heart rates to determine the scariest horror films of the year

A study carried out by the British research center Broadband Choices identified the scariest horror films of 2023 based on viewers’ physiological response. The project “The Science of Fright” (in Portuguese) monitored the heart rate of 250 participants while they watched 40 horror films. Therefore, the researchers were able to arrive at a result: a list of the films that accelerated the heart rate of those who watched them the most.
