Mercado Livre Announces Over 50% Off Meli+ Subscription

Mercado Livre Benefits Bundle Subscription Gets Significant Adjustment Due to Disney+ Increase

To attract more loyal consumers, the Free market offers a monthly subscription service that comes with a number of benefits, including free shipping and streaming of music, series and films from Disney+ and from Deezer. And this Friday (23) many consumers were surprised when they received the announcement that Meli+ will have a 56% increase starting September 3.

Currently, the package with access to Disney+ in the streaming plan with advertising and advantages in the marketplace stores costs R$ 17.99. And, with the adjustment communicated to consumers by email, the increase will be R$ 10 in the monthly subscription.

The statement prompted a lot of outcry on social media, and while Mercado Livre doesn’t associate the increase with recent changes to Disney+, it’s hard not to connect the increase to Disney making changes to its packages in June.

Disney has merged Disney+ and Star+ into a single platform, and the Standard plan that cost R$ 33.90 per month or R$ 279.90 per year has increased to R$ 43.90 per month and R$ 368.90 per year. It is worth noting that this package does not include exclusive sporting events, which were limited to Disney+ Premium, and only includes those broadcast on ESPN and ESPN 3 channels. It also does not have 4K quality (only 1080p) and the number of simultaneous screens has gone from four to two.

Mercado Livre’s message mentions new benefits, but there are no further details yet on what they would be. So Meli+, which had the combination of the old Disney+ and Star+ (the new Disney+ Premium), now offers Disney+ Standard with advertising, at a higher price – hence the users’ reproach.
