Bands and Formula 1 are experiencing an unprecedented crisis; Can racing go offline in 2024?

The relationship between band AND Formula 1 It hasn’t been great for some time now. The lack of audience and the problems this has caused in commercial matters could completely break the agreement between the parties.

THE Freedom Media has owned the commercial rights to Formula 1 since before the pandemic, when Bernie Ecclestone, the former owner, sold the brand to the North American company.

Behind the scenes of the São Paulo channel, according to information from journalist Flávio Ricco, of R7, there are very strong indications that the broadcasts of Formula 1 in band don’t make it past the end of this season.

What makes the crisis between the two companies more evident is the initial agreement: the contract in force between the Sao Paulo broadcaster and Formula 1 lasts until the end of 2025, that is, it has at least another 16 months.

What does Band say about the agreement with Formula 1?

Through a note, Band informs that the contract with Liberty Media has ended “runs until December 2025”including sponsorship offers for the Brazilian market.

However, the top brass of the Morumbi channel intend to meet next Monday to take stock of the situation and make a final decision on the top motorsport category on the grid.

It is worth noting that Formula 1 is part of Band’s multi-platform programming package, which includes BandSports, Rádio Bandeirantes, Band Play and Open TV.
