Justice responds to Leila Pereira’s request to arrest Palmeiras’ organized leaders

The president claims that Mancha Verde leaders did not respect the protection measure, in force since September 2023, in a protest in CT

Leila Pereira, president of Palmeiras, has had her request for preventive arrests for the leaders of Mancha Verde accepted by the courts. The request of the representative of alviverde was made with the accusation that the leaders of the organization did not respect the decision of the protection measure to stay at least 300 meters away.

The representative’s defense argues that the three were present at a recent protest at CT do Palmeiras. Their presence there would therefore violate the protection measure – implemented in September 2023. In this sense, the lawyers of President Alviverde have presented a request for precautionary custody.

The representatives of La Mancha mentioned by Leila are: Jorge Luís Sampaio, president of the organization, and his deputies Thiago Amorim and Felipe Mattos dos Santos.

The trio has been legally banned from approaching Leila Pereira since September 2023. The president resorted to the protection measure after being threatened by the organization’s leaders during a protest outside Crefisa’s headquarters in June 2023.

The president claims that she felt informed during the invasion that took place in the CT of Palmeiras, one of Leila’s workplaces, and that the three were present at the action. Their lawyers subsequently requested their preventive detention.

Decision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office

The Diário da Justiça published, on Thursday morning (5), an extract referring to the decision of the Public Prosecutor on the defense’s requests. The deputy denied arguing that the time charge was made as an importation and, according to the findings, there was no direct threat to Leila.
