Tarantino: 15 years ago, this poster had to be changed in Germany

In 2009, Inglourious Basterds took the movie world by storm. Quentin Tarantino’s classic war film featured a 5-star cast including Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Michael Fassbender, Eli Roth, Diane Kruger, Daniel Bruhl, Till Schweiger and Melanie Laurent.

It was held in occupied France in 1940. Indeed, since World War II, Germans have been rightly sensitive to the use of Nazi imagery, and in Germany it is forbidden to display symbols of this origin for any reason other than historical accuracy. The swastika, which was fully featured in the film, had to be removed from all marketing materials, including posters that were altered for the occasion.

So the swastika on the helmet was replaced by a bullet hole in the German version below.

Similarly, the symbol has completely disappeared from the main poster, as you can see in later versions.
