Does French TV still have morals? : The hidden history of Loft Story and reality TV is revealed in the cult series

A throwback to the iconic trailer of the early 2000s. Amazon Prime Video has just revealed promising and engaging images from its series that tells the story (in a loosely inspired form) of the creation and emergence of the media phenomenon Loft Story, the first reality TV show in France.

Everything is made up…

Here is the official synopsis of this project: “Paris, 2001. The towers of the World Trade Center are still standing and the French are world champions… M6 launches a new show Loft Story.

Isabelle, Rafael, Karim and their teams have less than 4 months before the show airs. Crazy bet for these young producers. They are the first in the field of “reality TV” and have to make everything up.

In this trailer, we see how the team behind this project discovered reality television and decided to create the program. Made in France in the field. Detractors, violent criticism and the first buzz will come to our characters’ lives as they move towards the unknown… but above all, the television revolution.

“Cult”, behind the scenes of “Loft Story”.

In Culte’s casting, users of the streaming platform will find Anaid Rosam (seen in the show’s season 4 LOL: He who laughs comes out), César Domboy (Outlander), Sami Outalbali (Sex Education, BRI) and Marie Collomb (star of the detective thriller series Follow, recently offered on France 2).

This fiction was created and written by Mathieu Roumany and Nicolas Slomka (who we credit for Family Business on Netflix). Among the authors are Jean-Alain Laban and Marina Rolman.

Consisting of six 52-minute episodes, Season 1 was directed by Louis Farge (who had already collaborated with Marie Collomb for Follow). Alexia Laroche-Joubert, who was at the center of the action at the time, is one of the producers.

Cult is scheduled for release on Friday, October 18, 2024 on Amazon Prime Video.
