Zeeko Zaki of the FBI on “Honoring” Dick Wolf by rewriting his character for him

FBI debuted in 2018 to lead to new type of crime drama for CBS , with Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki playing the agents investigating the worst types of criminals in New York. Now, the show is preparing to go into production for its fifth season, and Zaki recalled how his character was originally meant to be very different before executive producer Dick Wolf decided to make some changes.

Zeeko Zaki previously revealed METEOROLOGICAL BULLETIN that OA’s character was written to be played by a Latin actor (although the character’s initial description did not mention race or ethnicity), but sent an audition tape during FBI it was still early in the casting process. He later learned that his audition recording was “completely unsolicited,” but he received a callback which involved a seminar with Dick Wolf and the entire creative team to incorporate elements of his personal experience of him.

Now, with the show set to shoot in season five, the actor has talked about Wolf’s “honor” who made those changes to include his Muslim and Egyptian heritage after securing the audition, saying eastern time :

It was an honor to have the platform [and] the opportunity. And it’s really great that it worked and that we can show, from a business perspective, that we need to have all these different perspectives on these shows, so we hope to continue to open doors and change the narrative.

FBI has become one of CBS’s most highly regarded and followed dramas, so it’s safe to say that Dick Wolf and the creative team made a wise choice in adapting the OA character to Zeeko Zaki’s legacy and background. In fact, OA was arguably the anchor of the series, having been a more cohesive presence than other characters, including Maggie.

Missy Peregrym’s character has been absent for a while due to a covert operation and more recently after being exposed to sarin gas and he needs to recover. Both cases are due to the actress taking maternity leave in real life in the second half of season 2 and second half of season 4 respectively. (You can review both seasons in their entirety with a subscription to Paramount + .)

Peregrym will return as Maggie, and presumably as OA’s partner, though FBI to confuse things with associations in season 4, in season five, although he recently revealed who won’t be back right away when the show returns in September. Their collaboration poured a lot of heart into a show that deals with very heavy topics, so the reunion of OA and Maggie is something fans are looking forward to.

it’s hard to imagine FBI without Zeeko Zaki, or with OA being a different kind of character after how much the show delved into his character and story. It doesn’t always work well for the agent, as is the case with sarin gas. sparked devastating memories for him, it got even worse when his partner was unmasked and nearly died before he could save her.

FBI will return to production soon, but fans will have to wait until September 20th to review OA in action, as well as agents of FBI: international Yes FBI: Most Wanted. the three shows received renewals for two seasons in May, so the future looks bright for this television universe shared by Dick Wolf.
