In recent weeks, new details have been released about Josh Duggar and what his prison sentence will be. After 19 children and over star was convicted on child pornography charges, Duggar was sentenced to about 12.5 years in prison. Now, though, it looks like Jim’s eldest son Bob and Michelle may have shortened that sentence a bit.
Josh Duggar was recently transferred from the Washington County Detention Center in Arkansas to Seagoville Prison in Texas, where he will spend his time in the system. Prior to his transfer, it was reported that time spent in the county center would not count towards his sentence, which would be served entirely in federal prison. It was also reported that Josh Duggar would not be eligible for parole after being charged.
However, a new report of In contact indicates that the former TV personality will actually only spend about 10 years in total in prison. The report notes that he already has a release date of August 12, 2032 on the books. That date, of course, is much shorter than the 151 months that Judge Timothy L. Brooks set in court.
Why is Josh Duggar’s release date from prison earlier than expected?
The real reason why the 151-month sentence was not fully confirmed was not shared by Seagoville or those associated with the case.
Two more points to note: While the prosecution asked for 20 years in prison, Duggar’s legal team asked for a much lighter sentence. In turn, his mother Michelle Duggar and others came to his defense, also demanding a lighter warrant. Then, after the sentence, the defense also kept its promise to challenge the final result.
Second, after Josh Duggar is released from prison, he will spend 20 years on probation. You will need to register as a sex offender and see a probation officer regularly; it also means that you will be subjected to polygraph test. You will not be able to view pornography of any kind or have a medical marijuana card. Perhaps in particular, he will not be allowed to be alone in a room with his minor children (in 2032, his seven children with Anna Duggar will still be minors). Another authorized person must be nearby.
For now, Duggar is still in Seagoville, where he has a strict set of rules to follow every day. We will let you know if there are any further updates regarding the release of him.
