The “Recover POA” program offers interest and fine reductions for cash payments
Taxpayers who have debts with the city of Porto Alegre have until next Friday (27) to regularize their situation with discounts on interest and fines. This opportunity is part of the municipal program “Recupera POA”, which can be accessed directly on the city hall website: geral.poa.br/recuperapoa.
The initiative offers significant reductions for cash payments, covering both tax and non-tax outstanding matters. In addition to the discount, the program caps legal fees in tax enforcement cases at 2%. See the list of eligible debts:
- Urban and Territorial Property Tax (IPTU)
- Waste collection fee (TCL)
- Tax on services of any nature (ISSQN)
- Location and Operation Inspection Fee (TFLF)
- Retail sales tax (IVV) on liquid and gaseous fuels, excluding diesel
- ITBI credits related to capital transactions, mergers, incorporations, demergers or extinctions of legal entities (expiring on 20 September)
- Non-tax credits included in active debt
Scope of credits
The program covers non-tax and tax credits, including those already in tax execution or previously paid in installments. The ISSQN debt confession must be completed by the final date of joining the program. For ITBI credits, it is necessary to request the payment guide by September 20, 2024.
Required documentation
The payment guide can be generated by consulting the CPF/CNPJ and, in the case of the IPTU, by registering the property. For some types of debts, additional information may be required. If the taxpayer has difficulty providing this information, it is possible to open a question on the Services Portal of the Municipal Department of Finance (SMF).
Where to make the payment
Payments can be made in a single solution at accredited financial institutions, including: Banco do Brasil, Banco Inter, Banco Original, Banrisul, Bradesco, Caixa Econômica Federal, Itaú, Santander, Sicoob and Sicredi. It is also possible to settle the debt at lottery agencies of the Caixa network, but only for guides up to R$ 5,000, respecting the limit per document and not per taxpayer.
