THE Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta has just become the third person in the world to accumulate a assets exceeding $200 billion (approximately R$1.09 trillion) joining together Elon Musk of TeslaAND Jeff Bezos of Amazonin the most exclusive billionaires’ club on the planet.
The move was driven by a $72 billion increase in Zuckerberg’s net worth in 2024, the result of Meta’s stock appreciation, which has risen nearly 60% since January and reached record highs above $560 a share, Inside Business reported.
In addition to Zuckerberg, Bezos has also crossed the $200 billion mark again, with his net worth increasing by $39 billion this year to $216 billion. Amazon shares have also performed impressively, rising 28% in 2024, adding to the wealth of the e-commerce giant’s founder, Business Insider said.
Musk, who began the year with $229 billion, saw his fortune grow further, reaching $265 billion, cementing his position as the richest person on the planet.
However, the $200 billion club has lost one of its members: Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, has seen his fortune shrunk to $177 billion following a 16% drop in the luxury conglomerate’s shares.
Arnault currently ranks fifth on the wealthiest list, behind Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, who has increased his wealth by $55 billion this year, thanks to a 57% appreciation in his company’s shares.

The growth of these billion-dollar fortunes is strongly associated with rise of artificial intelligence (AI)a technology that promises to transform industries such as automation, e-commerce and social media.
