The Flamengo midfielder and Atlético-MG striker have been selected by coach Ricardo Gareca for the qualifying matches in October
Chile, under the guidance of coach Ricardo Gareca, has called up its team this Friday (27) for the duels against Brazil and Colombia, in the World Cup qualifiers. Some clubs intervened directly from Brazil and called up players.
On the Flamengo side, midfielder Erick Pulgar, striker Eduardo Vargas, from Atlético-MG, and defender Benjamín Kuscevic, from Fortaleza were called up. These are the representatives of the Brazilian teams called up for the two matches.
After all, the top scorer of the Chilean national team, star Alexis Sánchez, was not called up. Another attacker left out was Brereton. These two players are among the few Chileans still playing in Europe’s top leagues, with Sánchez playing for Udinese, Italy, and Brereton playing for Southampton, England.
Chile, however, will then face Brazil in Santiago on 10 October, and will then have an away match against Colombia on the 15th. Without qualifying for the World Cup since 2014, the Chilean team currently occupies the penultimate position, behind only Peru, and is out of the ranking group.
