WARNING: Spoilers for ‘Loki’ below.
‘Loki’, season 2: Release date
Last May we already had a clue that ‘Loki’ was going to have more than the six announced episodes. ‘Agents of SHIELD’ actor Clark Gregg spilled an unintentional secret by saying (via Variety): “It would be really interesting to start the experiment again. Doing 10 episodes or 12 episodes the way Tom Hiddleston told me he was doing ‘Loki’, with that kind of budget and that MCU production team”. This would confirm that the second season would also have the same number of episodes (a total of six) and that it could start shooting soon.
Beyond speculation, what is clear is that ‘Loki’ has officially been renewed for a season 2. Production, as confirmed by Owen Wilson, was going to start in the first months of 2022, and that the wait will not be too long. On a narrative level it would make sense: the end of the season has introduced a series of ideas and characters that will be very important for future productions such as ‘Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness’ and ‘Ant-Man 3: Quantumania’, so we don’t I’d miss seeing ‘Loki’ back in 2023.
For now, we have already seen the protagonists on set:

‘Loki’, season 2: The cast
Tom Hiddleston will return as Loki (one of them) in the second season of the series. But there will also be other characters that have been regulars in these first six episodes and that we hope to see back. Especially Sylvie (Sophia DiMartino), the female Loki that has fallen in love with Marvel fans. Also Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku), among the most relevant characters within the TVA, and perhaps we will even see Ravonna Renslayer return (Gugu Mbatha Raw), that we don’t know where he escaped to at the end of the season. And we don’t forget Tara Strong, who voices the mysterious Miss Minutes. For now, who we do know we will see again is Owen Wilsonwho has confirmed his return as TVA agent Mobius M. Mobius.
But the most anticipated return is that of the mysterious character played by Jonathan Majors, who has not finished identifying himself in this first season but that many fans will have already recognized as Kang the Conqueror. This character is called to be not only the villain of the second season of ‘Loki’, but of the entire UCM. The next Thanos, so to speak. And on top of that there will be several versions of the same character. Curves are coming.
Who we do not know if we will see again is the different versions of ‘Loki’, including the old version with Richard E Grant and above all, the crocodile lokiwho has stolen our hearts. We hope they show up again!
‘Loki’, season 2: How will the story continue?
Of course, nothing will ever be the same in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after ‘Loki’. First of all, take a look at all our recaps of season 1 of ‘Loki’ so you don’t miss any details:
In the sixth and final episode of its first season, Loki (Hiddleston) and Sylvie (Di Martino) manage to get through Alioth and reach the man who controls the threads of time and history. The Wizard of Oz. The protagonists then find the one referred to as El Que Se Mantiene (Majors), who explains to them what the situation is: they have to decide between letting him live as the dictator of time, allowing him to continue snatching free will from the universe and controlling everything that falls outside the sacred timeline, or they can kill him right there and unleash cosmic chaos. The why is in his own past: he knows that without him there to control what happens in different dimensions, various versions of himself will rise up in a war to control everything. And that would be a real apocalypse.
In this point, Loki and Sylvie disagree. Loki thinks it’s worth considering whether a dictatorship of time is actually a good thing, but Sylvie is more than convinced that freedom comes first. The two fight and eventually Sylvie opens a portal and sends Loki back to the TVA. Alone at last, she cuts through the heart of Majors’ character. He winks at her, as if amused, as if knowing what is about to be unleashed on the universe. For his part, Loki finds Mobius, but does not recognize him. He then looks around him and sees a giant statue of who we will come to know as Kang the Conqueror. No, it is not in the temporary moment that he thought. Where, then?
