Dead in 2021, Michael Apted remains a filmmaker largely overlooked. A solid craftsman, over a fifty-year career, he made some interesting films, some of which have become classics, such as 1989’s terrifying and thrilling Gorillas in the Mist, which exposed Diana’s struggle to the world.
