Charli XCX was cast in a film inspired by the story of Joan of Arc. The singer will be part of the cast of Sacrificethe French director’s first English-language film Romain Gavrasas reported by the Deadline (via NME). Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Evans, Vincent Cassel and Ambika Mod are also expected to star in the feature film.
“Sacrifice — loosely inspired by the story of Joan of Arc — tells the story of Joan (Taylor-Joy)a fervent spirit driven by a volcanic prophecy that only she can hear and who is on a mission to save the world from a fiery catastrophe,” says the synopsis.
With her militia of mystical disciples, she hijacks a glamorous charity gala and takes three hostages: Mike Tyler (Evans)a tormented movie star seeking redemption, Bracken (Cassel)the richest man in the world, and Katie (Mod)which is just unlucky. They are forced on a journey through forests and flames until Mike faces the ultimate question: what would he sacrifice for humanity?
The role of Charli XCX in the film, which will be shot in Greece and Bulgaria. Swedish rapper Yung Lean will also be part of the supporting cast.
