Marvel fans know that if they want to (re)discover MCU movies on streaming, they have to turn to Disney+. The platform has a universe dedicated to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which now includes old Marvel series from ABC and Netflix, but also movies from Fox.
The MCU catalog is growing on Disney+
Marvel’s catalog on Disney+ is almost complete in France, except for the most recent releases, as French media’s chronology breaks the film’s televised and streaming a few months, even years later in the room.
Today, CANAL+ and OCS can stream movies 6 months after their release, Netflix has to wait 15 months and Prime Video and Disney+ 17 months.
But just a few years ago, streaming platforms had to wait 36 months. That’s why there were several Marvel movies from 2021 that hit old media timelines that haven’t been in the Disney+ catalog for a long time, like Black Widow or Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings.
The most beautiful movie of Phase IV of the MCU
What was missing was The Eternals, the twenty-sixth film in the MCU featuring the famous comic book characters created by Jack Kirby. Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Chloe Zhao, this feature film tells the story of the Eternals, a group of heroes from the far reaches of the universe who have protected Earth since the dawn of humanity.
When Deviants, monstrous creatures long thought to be extinct, mysteriously re-emerge, the Eternals are forced to come together once again to protect humanity…
In addition to Chloe Zhao’s naturalistic, refined and authentic touch, The Eternals relies on a deep and moving humanist plot, diverse characters that a large number of people can identify with, effective and readable action scenes in a natural setting and picturesque.
With great beauty and captivating music by Ramin Javad (Game of Thrones, Westworld), The Eternals is also worthy of its XXL cast, which includes Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjian, Angelina Jolie, Barry Keoghan, Gemma Chan, Lauren Ridloff, Kit Harington, Brian Tyree Henry, Lia McHugh, and Ma Dong-seok.
The Eternals was a mixed success, earning $400 million at the worldwide box office and banning the feature film. The film was banned in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar due to the family life of Fastos, the MCU’s first openly gay superhero.
But the film also lost a large market in China, which banned the film to “punish” director Chloe Zhao, who has often criticized the country and its politics. If you missed The Eternals in theaters or on TV, you can now catch it streaming.
The Eternals is available on Disney+.
