Ridley Scott claimed that the kiss never actually happened, and Washington admitted that it was just a peck and nothing more.
After Denzel Washington(Training Day) state that a gay kiss scene was cut from Gladiator II, Ridley Scott clarified the matter. In a new interview, the director stated that, in fact, the moment never happened.
“No [foi cortado]that’s a lie”stated Scott the Variety during the film’s premiere in Hollywood last Monday, November 18th. “They never kissed. They acted out the moment, [mas] never happened.”
The information came to light after washington being asked how gay the Roman Empire would be: “I actually kissed a guy in the movie, but they took it out [a cena]they cut it, I think they turned it yellow”he stated. “I gave a guy a kiss on the lips and I don’t think they were ready for that yet. I killed the guy five minutes later. Yeah Gladiator. It’s the kiss of death.”
However, now the actor has backtracked and said that people are exaggerating something very simple: “Actually, it’s just much ado about nothing. They’re turning it into something bigger than it is. I kissed a man on the hands, I gave him a peck and I killed him.”clarified to Variety.
