Resident Evil: The Master of Horror wanted to adapt this pop culture monument

As Bloody Disgusting reports, Uncork’d Entertainment this week acquired an investigative documentary that “could have been” one of Hollywood’s most intriguing stories.

Directed by Brandon Salisbury, this “could have been” story is George A. Romero’s version of Resident Evil. Indeed, in 1998, Constantin Film decided to bring Resident Evil, the legendary horror video game, to the big screen. After that, the production and distribution company called George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead, Zombie, Day of the Living Dead), a visionary director who redefined the zombie genre, to adapt the project. But despite the perfect combination of horror’s greatest minds, Romero’s vision for Resident Evil never came to fruition.

Still, in 1998 he was contacted by video game publisher Capcom to do a live commercial for the Japanese market to promote the release of Resident Evil 2 . Set in the hallway of an abandoned police station cell, this 30-second commercial stars two actors, the late Brad Renfro (The Jacket) and Adrienne Franz (The Bold and the Beautiful).
