Discover BYD’s plans with Denza, its luxury division in Brazil. We reveal the company’s already defined planning and what its proposals are for the short-term future
BYD recently announced the arrival of its first luxury brand in Brazil, Denza. But what are the company’s plans with the introduction of an even more premium division? What are the models?
Terra Report went to China to investigate and has news on the project. According to sources linked to the company, Denza will “incorporate” two other BYD divisions to present itself to the Brazilian market. In other words, models from other BYD brands in China, such as FangChengBao and YangWang, will be sold here under the Denza brand. But what are they?
The cars that Denza, from BYD, wants to bring to Brazil
The first is already confirmed: it will be the Z9, in 2025. Now we talk about it here. However, the brand has not confirmed in which configuration it will be present.
Our bet is that the first will be the sportiest configuration, called GT, a shooting brake with almost 1,000 horsepower, which should be launched to face the Chinese rival Zeekr, which launched the Shooting Brake 001 in October. Sedan and SUV variants of the Z9 may arrive later.
Another practically certain product is the Bao 5 SUV. Abroad it has had other names (such as Leopard 5) and bears the insignia of another company, FangChengBao (translation of “Leopard Formula”) – in other words, it does not exist there “Bao 5” (which in translation would simply be Leopard 5), but rather FangChengBao 5.
“Going to Brazil and the Americas as Denza Bao 5 or simply Denza 5 would help BYD a lot precisely because of the ease of pronunciation,” revealed a source linked to the brand during the Guangzhou Motor Show.
The Bao 5 is a large SUV – 4.89 meters -, hybrid, with almost 700 horsepower (a combustion engine is combined with two other electric motors, which together deliver 686 horsepower and 77.5 kgfm of torque) and promises more 1,200 kilometers of autonomy. The SUV was unveiled worldwide at this year’s Beijing Motor Show.
Its construction structure, it is worth mentioning, is of the frame-on-beam type, like most midsize pickup trucks, and not the unibody type. The base is the same as the BYD Shark.
The estimated price is more than R $ 500,000.

What else can come
There are other products planned for our market, but all, for now, are under study. The first is an electric super sports car, which would be offered to niche segments, called U9 – and sold abroad under the banner of the YangWang division.
Here, if it is offered, it should also come as Denza U9. Sold as YangWang in China, the car that was revealed to the world at the 2023 Shanghai Motor Show can even dance!
It has 1,300 HP and a hypercar look, very similar, in fact, to the models of the English company McLaren, especially at the front. With adaptive suspension (called DiSus-X), it can not only dance, but “roll” on three wheels if it needs to get out of a tight space.

The latest idea being studied by BYD is the U8 SUV, also produced and sold in China as the YangWang. Here we are talking about a large SUV, 5.30 meters long (the same dimensions as a Ford Ranger, to give you an idea) and with a wheelbase of 3.05 metres.
The idea, if its arrival is actually confirmed, is that the importation will take place only in 2026.
Proposed as an extreme luxury vehicle – YangWang is BYD’s most sophisticated division – it has 1,197 horsepower, goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, and can also turn on its own axis to exit. In tight situations, it can still “swim” and accelerates even when submerged in water, like an amphibious car, in emergency safety mode.
There are hybrid and fully electric versions out there. None of them weigh less than 3 tons. Yet the car is a “monster” in terms of performance.
