‘Wolfs’ Director Says He Won’t Direct Sequel for Apple: ‘I Don’t Trust It’

Jon Watts, director who left the “Spider-Man” series with Tom Holland and Zendaya to write and direct “Wolfs”, with George Clooney and Brad Pitt for Apple, sparked controversy in the press when he revealed that he would not make a sequel to the film, despite the film becoming the most watched title on Apple TV+.

In an interview given on Friday (22nd) to ExpirationWatts stated that the sequel was cancelled, explaining that “I no longer trust Apple as a creative partner”.

“I showed the final version of ‘Wolfs’ to Apple earlier this year and they were extremely excited and immediately hired me to write the sequel. However, the decision to move the theatrical release to streaming was a complete surprise and was made without any discussion with me,” Watts said Expiration.

He further explained that he was only informed of the change shortly before the public announcement and requested that the news about the sequel be removed, but Apple ignored his request, apparently to set a positive tone for the change.

As a result, Watts stated that he discreetly returned the money he received for the sequel and canceled the project. “I enjoyed working with Brad and George, but the truth is that Apple didn’t cancel the ‘Wolfs’ sequel, I did, because I no longer trusted them as a creative partner,” he concluded.
