For the sixth and final season of the show, the heroes of Cobra Kai face off against the cream of international karate. The disciples of the two senseis of Miyagi-do dojo, Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso, face the best teams in the world, including members of Cobra Kai or the invincible karateka of the Iron Dragons team.
This international tournament is called Sekai Taikai and is held in Barcelona, Spain. This is a non-sanctioned tournament in the karate world, just like the All Valley tournament in California. Therefore, to win the Sekai Taikai is to enter the legend of the martial art, and among the former winners of the tournament is a certain Mr. Miyagi.
The next edition of Sekai Taikai will be hard to attend…
Fans of the series may want to attend the upcoming edition of the International Karate Tournament. Unfortunately, this is completely impossible because Sekai Taikai is an invention of the Cobra Kai writers. Competitions actually exist, but take on more classic features: regional or national championships, European championships or even world championships.
Tournaments are regularly held in France under the supervision of the French Karate Federation. These competitions allow us to showcase different forms of fighting, but also offer training courses to all types of practitioners. Therefore there is no equivalent to Sekai Takai in France, nor in any official karate competition.
The All Valley Tournament was originally an invention of karate children’s movies. However, the success of the movie franchise in the 1980s saw this type of tournament almost everywhere in the United States. The popularity of the movies, and later the Cobra Kai series, also increased membership in karate clubs around the world.
All six seasons of Cobra Kai are now available exclusively on Netflix.
