HBO confirms new premiere date for the series starring Zendaya
The fans of Euphoria will have to wait a little longer for the long-awaited third season. During the event Wells Fargo TMT Summitheld this Tuesday (3), the CEO of Warner Bros. DiscoveryJB Perretterevealed that the new episodes of the series should only debut in 2026 (via Deadline). The production, which will have eight episodes, will begin filming in January 2025 and will feature the return of the entire main cast, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie and Hunter Schafer.
Recent rumors about a possible cancellation of the series were denied by HBO, which reinforced its commitment to the production. Casey Bloyspresident of the broadcaster, stated that “Recordings are confirmed for the beginning of next year, and the script is already ready.”Francesca Orsihead of drama at HBO, also highlighted his excitement for the new season.
Since its premiere in 2019, the series has won important awards and attracted attention for its portrayal of themes such as addiction, trauma and relationships, from the perspective of Rue, played by Zendaya. The series, based on a 2012 Israeli production, quickly became a cultural phenomenon and boosted the careers of its cast.
The delay between seasons, however, reflects challenges facing the production, including the death of Angus Cloudinterpreter of Fezco, in August 2023.
In addition to EuphoriaHBO announced dates for other productions. The third season of The White Lotus arrives in February 2025, the second season of The Last of Us premieres between March and June, and Knight of the Seven Kingdomsprelude to game of Throneswill be released at the end of 2025. The first two seasons of Euphoria are available on the Max platform.
