Austin Butler should star in the new version of American Psychowhich will be directed by Luca Guadagninoconfirmed the Variety.

The film will not be a remake of the feature film starring Christian Balefrom 2000, but rather a new adaptation of the book by Bret Easton Ellispublished in 1991.

Jacob Elordi was also considered for the role. Butler and he interpreted Elvis Presley in very different narratives in cinema — Elvis (2022) and Priscilla (2023), respectively.

In the original film, set in the 1980s, Patrick Bateman leads a double life as a Wall Street businessman and serial killer.

The feature film by Guadagninowho directed films such as Suspiria (2018) and Call Me By Your Name (2017), can reach another layer of sexual content.
