The Chinese automaker achieves the feat less than three months after passing the milestone of 50,000 electrified cars
BYD has surpassed the threshold of 70 thousand electric and hybrid cars sold in Brazil in 2024. This strengthens the Chinese automaker’s position as one of the 10 largest in Brazil. As we said earlier, BYD is now chasing the position of Japan’s Honda and Nissan.
It’s been less than three months since BYD surpassed the 50,000 sales mark. The car that marked the number 70,000 was a BYD Song Pro, purchased by banker Rodrigo Ticianelli. He received a giant key from the vice president of BYD do Brasil, Alexandre Baldy, who represents the achievement, at a dealership of the brand in Sao Paulo.
“I wanted to trade in my car for an electrified car, which offered performance and also offered fuel economy,” Ticianelli said. He believes BYD Song Pro can meet his expectations.
The plug-in hybrid SUV is BYD’s best-selling model in Brazil this year, with 24,143 units. Of this total, 17,280 are the Plus version and 6,863 are the Pro version. The cars have some important differences, but the global market tends to treat the two BYD Songs as a single model.
Among electric cars, the best-selling is the BYD Dolphin Mini with 20,757 new units on the roads. It is also the Chinese brand’s most affordable car, which quickly ensured its success, despite being more expensive than expected.
“BYD has already become the brand associated with electrification in Brazil,” Baldy said. “We have conquered the consumer and the Brazilian market.” Recently, BYD was elected “Automotive Trend” in the 2025 Terra Guia do Carro Car Trend Award, with the vote of 22 specialized journalists.
