The White Lotus: unprecedented details about the third season in Thailand; see the trailer

HBO’s hit anthology series returns in February 2025

The HBO series, The White Lotuscreated by Mike Whiteis officially back for a third season. The premiere is scheduled for February 2025, as revealed by Warner Bros. executives. Discovery. Following the anthological format of previous seasons, the new chapter should delve into themes such as spirituality and death from the perspective of Eastern religions.

As is tradition for the series, the third season features a renewed cast, with some familiar faces. Natasha Rothwell returns as Belinda Lindsey, seen in the first season, marking one of the few rescues of already established characters. Among the new confirmed members are Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey and Walton Goggins.

Additionally, the season will feature Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education), Sarah Catherine Hook, Sam Nivola and the young Asian actress Tayme Thapthimthongwhich promises to be one of the highlights.

There are rumors that Jennifer Coolidge may appear in flashbacks as Tanya McQuoid-Hunt, after her tragic death in season two, but nothing has been confirmed. Another character who may have his story revisited is Greg Huntplayed by Jon Griesfocusing on the consequences of his actions after Tanya’s death.

Mike White also suggested that other characters from previous seasons could return, such as Dominic DiGrasso (played by Michael Imperioli) or even Nicole Mossbacher (Connie Britton), who almost appeared in the second season.


Plot and setting

Each season of The White Lotus is set in a luxurious resort in a new location. This time, Thailand will be the main setting, with recordings taking place in Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. Mike White revealed that the plot will address death and spirituality from a satirical perspective, exploring the cultural aspects of Eastern religions.

Although each season is independent, White left open the possibility of continuing some stories, especially those related to the mystery surrounding Greg and Tanya. “Looks like someone needs to trace this all back to Greg,”commented the creator in an interview with Esquire.

The official teaser, released in December 2024, introduced new characters and gave a taste of the plot. Among the highlights are Jaclyn (played by Michelle Monaghan), who “lives off male attention”, and Victoria Ratliff (Parker Posey), who notices that “something is wrong” at the resort.


Episodes and premiere

The number of episodes has not yet been confirmed. Previous seasons had different numbers – six in the first and seven in the second. There is speculation that the third season could follow the expansion trend, bringing eight episodes, but this has not yet been made official.

The premiere is scheduled for February 2025, but the exact date has not yet been announced. The episodes will be available on the platform Max.

Although the fourth season has not yet been officially confirmed, the creator Mike White is already working on ideas to continue the series. According to the CEO of HBO, Casey Bloys, “If Mike wants to move forward with season four, he certainly will.”
