As expected, Carry-On has taken the lead in the most watched shows on Netflix right now in France and the rest of the world.
This highly entertaining action film tells the story of a young air security agent who has to deal with the blackmail of a mysterious passenger who threatens to carry a dangerous package on a plane on Christmas Eve… Flirting on the nostalgia of some audiences for the 80s and 90s, the film directed by Jaume Collet-Serrat was relatively well received by subscribers .
Netflix’s miracle recipe?
Looking at its AlloCiné profile, Carry-On currently has an average rating of 3.5 out of 5 for 337 ratings. Viewers appreciate the performances of Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman, as well as the tension control, which makes you want to go to the end to find out the final result:
“Very tense throughout. And that’s a compliment. We forget the first few minutes of the intro, which was not very inspiring.” (read H)
“In terms of entertainment, the Carry-on does its job. It is rhythmic, effective, picturesque. A few big tricks, as in all action movies, a script without much revolution, but in the end a good Christmas movie to watch on Sunday under a favorite blanket.’ (only me)
“A decent thriller. Scenes that follow each other at a relentless pace, good actors and an original playground with a well-crafted plot. It’s a shame that a lot of (set-up) and often implausible plots spoil the whole thing.” (Pascal I)
“Carry On is a pleasant surprise from Netflix. The movie puts you under high tension very quickly and doesn’t let you go until the end result. The staging is very effective, as is its story, which never gets lost in the telling. The casting is convincing and the face-to-face work works brilliantly. Every scene, every shot is interesting. A tense thriller that never lets you know how it will end. A very good Christmas movie to watch without hesitation.” (just Loic)
“Very good action thriller! This movie literally made me sweat because it was so captivating! The actors are very believable. The only drawback: plot possibilities, but nothing extravagant and remains very light compared to other films of the same style. In short, if you’re looking for a movie full of tension and action, don’t hesitate to watch Carry-On.” (Margot_LRY)
For several years now, Netflix has offered its subscribers a year-end movie or blockbuster. Then the space opera Rebel Moon last year and whodunit Knives Out 2 before, it’s Carry On’s turn to take that slot. And for this, the platform relied on Taron Egerton, an actor who recently joined his team. But what seems to be particularly pleasing here is the Christmas movie / action movie association – a mixture that already worked wonders on Crystal Trap.
And even if it’s just for fun, the teams allowed themselves to make their plot believable by calling real TSA agents (airport security) and filming in a real airport…
Go ahead and watch it on Netflix.
