The Arcane series debuted in late 2021 and has gained fans to date, especially in the gaming world. The production stems from the online game “League of Legends,” which is well-known around the world, and has attracted attention for telling stories involving the game’s characters.
Three years after the premiere. Arcane won its continuation, with the second season arriving in three parts on Netflix on November 9, 16, and 23, respectively. However, the new season is also the last of the series, which has had an excellent reception from the public and critics.
After a hiatus of more than two years, it can be difficult to remember everything that happened in the first season. For this reason we have prepared an article summarizing the most important events, so that you can prepare yourself before watching the second season on Netflix. I wait!
What happened in the first season of Arcane?
The Arcane series tells the story of orphaned sisters Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell), who find themselves on opposing sides in a battle between two regions, the luxurious city of Piltover and the underground district of Zaun. During the first season, the two find themselves in a big bind in Zaun after a robbery in Piltover.
The first season is available on Netflix in nine episodes, with animation that mixes computer graphics and line insertions in a more drawn style. It took six years to produce, double the time it took to develop the second.
The series mixes elements of action, steampunk and family drama, mainly highlighting the tension between Piltover and Zaun, and has been highly praised for its innovative animation style, in addition to the deep narrative and the way the “League of Legends” has been expanded.
There are themes such as technology, magic and human relationships, but also class struggle, the ethics of technological progress and psychological trauma.
Arcana Season 1: Act 1
The first part of Arcane introduces Violet and Powder, sisters who lose their parents in a rebellion. Still young, they end up burgling a flat in Piltover together with their adoptive brothers. However, the heist doesn’t work, as Powder accidentally breaks the magic crystals, causing a huge explosion.
This creates a ripple effect, ending with Vander’s capture and Vi, Mylo, and Claggor’s attempt to rescue him. During this, while trying to help, Powder ends up causing another explosion, killing his adoptive brothers and Vander. This causes Vi to push her sister away, calling her Jinx for the first time, which causes her transformation and alliance with Silco, a criminal.

Arcana Season 1: Act 2
Years after the first events, in the second act, the series shows the consequences of Piltover’s technological development and the impact of Hextech, a magical technology created by Jayce and Viktor. Meanwhile, Zaun becomes increasingly dependent on the Shimmer, a mutagenic substance distributed by Silco.
Jinx is now a violent and unstable teenager working for Silco, and Vi is trapped, kept away from her sister. The plot becomes even more intense when Caitlyn, a Piltover hitman, finds Vi in prison and frees her, aiming to help find Silco and understand the growing conflict between Piltover and Zaun.

Arcana Season 1: Act 3
The final act of the season is the culmination of tensions between Piltover and Zaun, with Vi and Caitlyn teaming up with Ekko, a childhood friend of the sisters, who is now the leader of a rebel group called the Firelights. Jinx, meanwhile, suffers even more from growing psychological crises, mainly due to Vi’s rapprochement.
The finale features several brutal clashes involving Vi, Caitlyn, Jayce, Silco and Jinx, while the future of Piltover and Zaun hangs in the balance. Jinx accidentally kills Silco and becomes a symbol of the revolution, while a missile is launched against the Piltover council, sealing the tragic outcome of the first season.
In the end, Jinx accepts her identity and finally breaks up with her sister Vi, while the political and personal implications of her attitudes form the hooks for the rest of the series.

Synopsis of the second season of Arcane
The second season, consisting of 9 episodes, begins shortly after the final events of the first. After Silco’s death, Jinx takes on the role of leader of the underworld, but is also the most wanted person in Piltover. This causes Caitlyn, who plays an important role among the peacekeepers, to fall behind her. Furthermore, Vi also joins the hunt against her sister.
Additionally, iconic characters from the previous season return, such as Jayce, Ekko, Viktor, and Heimerdinger, and the series also brings new LOL champions, such as the alchemist Singed and his creation, the humanoid wolf Warwick.
The voice cast of Arcane brings (“Fallout”) as Jinx, (“Hawkeye”) as Vi, (“Annika”) as Caitlyn, (“Lucifer”) as Jayce e (“Big Hero”) as Mylo.
