The pro-Russian group claimed responsibility for the offensive in the European country
A new wave of hacker attacks by the pro-Russian group Noname057(16) targeted the websites of Italian ministries and institutions this Saturday (11).
The actions caused the temporary suspension of the services offered, causing headaches for those who needed to access the pages.
The hackers’ targets include the websites of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Infrastructure and Transport, as well as the National Commission for Business and the Stock Exchange (Consob), the Italian police, the Navy and the Air Force.
Some sites reported outages for about an hour, but no specific issues were reported. The same group of hackers had already carried out a similar attack a few weeks ago.
To mitigate the effects of the offensive, the IT managers of the organizations involved used various techniques, including “geofencing”, which consists of erecting a fence to access requests, closing the door to those coming from certain areas, such as Russia.
Announcing the attacks, pro-Moscow hackers criticized Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Telegram.
“According to Meloni, Italy will help Ukraine defend its interests and seek a just and lasting peace. Italy should start by helping itself and, first of all, its cybersecurity,” they wrote. .
