The official “Sandman” Twitter account has released four heartwarming character posters from Netflix’s jealously guarded adaptation of “Sandman”.

Featured characters are Sandman himself, also known as Dream, played by Tom Sturridge (“Far From This Foolish World”), Death played by Kirby Howell-Baptiste (“The Good Place”), Johanna Constantine, starring Jenna Coleman (“Doctor Who”), and Lucienne, as Vivienne Acheampong (“The One”).

With the exception of Sandman, all other characters are radically different from the original comics written by Neil Gaiman, where death was drawn as a pale gothic teenager, Johanna Constantine lived in the 18th century, and Lucienne was named Lucian, the male white head of the library of dreams – and the most faithful follower of Sandman.

Promised as a faithful adaptation of Gaiman himself, the series also takes place in the present day instead of in the 1980s – the period of the original publications -, and will begin with Sandman breaking free after 70 years trapped in a mystical ritual, trying to get back in command. to Dreaming. To do this, he needs to recover three stolen tools – a bag full of sand, a ruby and a helmet – on a mission that will take him to hell.

The premiere is scheduled for August 5th.
