Namor in Black Panther 2: Marvel’s Aquaman is lurking in the trailer

Namor, played by Tenoch Huerta, will be one of the newcomers in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” on November 9. So, it’s time to get to know this iconic Marvel character that will appear in the trailer.

Rumors about his participation in the film returned regularly. Concept art posted online in early July confirmed this. A trailer released during San Diego Comic-Con now confirms it: Namor will debut in Black Panther – Wakanda Forever on November 9.

The iconic figure of the Marvel catalog, also called the Prince of the Seas (or the Sub-Mariner in English) has so far only had the right to an animated series to come out of the boxes of the House of Ideas comics. The Ryan Coogler-directed feature film will therefore be eventful in more ways than one, and it’s time to get to know Namor while you wait for him to shine in cinema.

Created by cartoonist and screenwriter Bill Everett, it debuted in April 1939. Cinema funny weekly. And it just happens to be the first Marvel hero because he was born before Captain America (December 1940), Spider-Man (August 1962) or Iron Man (March 1963). And even to the publishing house, which was created six months after its creation.

Ruler of the sunken kingdom of Atlantis, he was born from the union of a human and an Atlantean, which explains why he isn’t blue like the other members of his people that we see in the trailer and that are straight out of Avatar. Considered the first mutant, if we follow the order of Marvel publications, Namor was part of the X-Men or the Avengers depending on his adventures.

Or the Illuminati seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness this year. Many also thought that Sam Raimi’s feature film would be his first appearance in theaters, which Scott Derrickson’s cryptic tweet while he was still working on the film already hinted at in March 2019. So it was not delayed, but only. for several months. And going by the trailer, the character is shaping up to be the film’s big villain.

Tenoc Huerta, aka Namor

Which is fitting given that he was the first enemy of the humans in the comics, and notably faced off against the Fantastic 4 before siding with the good guys. Considered more of an anti-hero, he can breathe underwater and on land, but also fly thanks to the small wings on his feet. In addition to enjoying superhuman strength, speed, agility and reflexes. Or telepathic control over sea creatures, which we no longer see in recent stories and which may not be in the Wakanda Forever program.

In front of Ryan Coogler’s camera, Namor will be played by Tenoch Huerta, a Mexican actor most notably seen in Narco: Mexico in American Nightmare 5 or Season 1. And his appearance will be somewhat different from the comics: if he keeps the pointed ears, his style will be more reminiscent of the Mayans or the Aztecs (whose pyramid can be seen at the beginning of the trailer). The sheets indicate a connection between Atlantis and another extinct civilization. As well as a clash between the underwater and terrestrial parts of the MCU when it comes to strikes with the people of Wakanda, the reason for which has yet to be revealed.

Real bad or fake song?

Because the trailer is trying to lead us down a false path? Like Zemo (Daniel Bruhl) with Iron Man and Captain America in Civil War, won’t there be another person pulling the strings in the shadows and setting up this clash between the two peoples, thanks to the military we see in some of the plans? Like, one of the most famous villains in Marvel history? As Namor will also be used to bond with the Fantastic 4, who he eventually becomes an ally with, will the name of their sworn enemy Dr. Doom (or Dr. Doom) be mentioned, even without the character appearing?

The hypothesis is all the more plausible since Fantastic 4 will arrive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in November 2024. And that rumor of a crossover adaptation from Secret Wars starring Doom is now confirmed. Scheduled for release in November 2025. While Phase IV has long been criticized for sighted swimming, the course set by Kevin Feige is now looking a little clearer. Namor can help move things forward and expand horizons.
