The increase comes in the treadmill of an altitude of the tax rate on the circulation of goods and the provision of services (ICM)
From this Saturday 1 February, the Brazilians will hear the impact of the income on fuel prices in the pocket. The increase comes in the wake of an altitude of the tax rate on the circulation of goods and the provision of services (ICM) on fuels, decided by state agricultural secretaries last year.
With this, the additions will be the following:
Petrol: Increase in ICM from R $ 0.10 per liter, from R $ 1.37 to R $ 1.47;
Diesel: in addition to ICM from R $ 0.06 per liter, going from R $ 1.06 to R $ 1.12.
In the case of LPG, there will be a decrease of $ 0.02 per kilo, with $ 1.41 ICM to $ 1.39.
Who has increased prices?
Change is not a determination of the federal government, but of state governments. It was established by the National Committee of Secretaries of Finance, Finance, Revenue or Tassation of States and the Federal District (Comcefaz) in October last year. The decisions were published by the National Council of Finance Policy (Confaz) in the “Official Gazette” on 31 of the same month.
“These adjustments reflect the commitment of states to promote a balanced, stable and transparent tax system that correctly responds to the variations in market prices and promotes tax justice,” says Comfaz, issued on October 31st.
ICMS is part of the composition of the price of fuel. To reach the final value of the product to the pump, the price of the manufacturer is calculated, the addition of ethanol, the federal taxes and the gross and resale margin of distribution. Below is the example of ordinary petrol, based on October 2024 data, the last one available by the National Petroleum Association (ANP). (*With information from the Estadão content)
