A24 has released the poster and trailer for “Pearl”, a new horror film directed by Ti West (“Cabana do Inferno 2”), which is the prologue of “X – A Marca da Morte”, still unreleased in Brazil.
Both films star Mia Goth (“Nymphomaniac”). But while in the first film she was one of the targets of the elderly serial killer, she now gives birth to the killer herself, whose name she christens the production.
“Pearl” follows the youth of the psychopath, whose dreams of becoming a movie star are stifled by the lonely life on the family farm. This resentment begins their bloody saga.
Mia Goth herself signs the story, in collaboration with the director. It is worth noting that the actress had played both the lead character Maxine and Pearl in “X”. But she was unrecognizable in the role of the serial killer, under too many layers of prosthetic makeup to look like a woman in her 90s.
“X – The Mark of Death”, which followed the slaughter of a troupe of pornographic films on the madwoman’s website, was a huge success in the United States, but will only arrive in Brazil on 11 August. “Pearl” will premiere a few weeks later, on September 2 in North America, following its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
For now, the prologue has no national release forecast.
