The appeal occurs in the action of government forces against the Alauita minority in support of Bashar al-Assad. The NGO accused the “sectarian massacre”, with the death of at least 745 civilians, as well as the fighters on both sides.
“What is happening in the country (…) are predictable challenges. We must preserve national unity, civil peace as much as possible and, if God arranged, we will be able to live together in this country,” said Sharaa, in a speech in a Damascus mosque. He led the Islamic coalition that overturned Assad, who belonged to the Alauita Muslim minority.
The name of the provisional president was made at a time when the forces of the new Damascus administration carried out a repression in the coastal areas of Syria dominated by the minority of Alauíta, the branch of Islam XIIite professed by the Assad clan.
“Massacre”
According to the Syrian Observatory for human rights, at least 745 Alauite civilians were killed “in cold blood”, many of which executed in a “sectarian massacre”, the security forces in the coastal provinces of Latakia and the Forti – Strongholle Alauiziane – and the central provinces of Hama and Hams.
In addition, at least 273 members of the security forces and pro-Assad fighters were killed according to the organization itself.
The violence broke out on Thursday after the insurgents of Alauítas Leal Assad launched an attack on the security forces in Latakia, triggering a campaign of violence against the security forces.
