Exports of Italian wines have reached a record in 2024

On the other hand, the sector is threatened by possible Trump rates

The exports of Italian wines grew by 5.5% by 2024 and reached a record value of 8.1 billion euros, equivalent to $ 50.6 billion.

The result was announced by the Minister of Agricultural Policies and Food Sovereignty, Francesco Lollobrigida, confirming a historical year for one of the pillars of “made in Italy” in the world.

“In 2014, exports to our wine sector reached a record figure of 8.1 billion euros, with an increase of 5.5% compared to 2023. It is an extraordinary result that demonstrates the strength, quality and competitiveness of Italian wine,” celebrated Lollobrigida on Facebook.

“Defending and evaluating our excellence means protecting the identity and wealth of Italy. Italian wine is not just a product; it is tradition, culture and work. A pillar of the national economy and we will continue to work to grow more and more globally,” said the minister.

The rise, however, is threatened by the commercial war triggered by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, which consists in imposing a 200% rate against the wines produced in the European Union.

Overall, the Agro -cibo Italian sector exported 69.1 billion euros (432 billion dollars) in 2024, also according to the National Statistics Institute (Istat). Within this amount, the wines represent the main force, followed by fresh fruit and vegetables (6.5 billion euros).
