Xavier Dolan has released the first images of his series for Canal+

Since 2019, Xavier Dolan has postponed his career as a director in favor of acting. He recently starred in the film Illusions Perdues, directed by Javier Giannoli, in which he played the role of Nathan D’Anastasio. After Mathias and Maxime, the Canadian actor and director returns behind the camera for his very first series, in five episodes for Canal+, called The Night, where Laurier Gaudreault woke up.

Adapted from the play of the same name by Quebec playwright Michel Marc Bouchard, the series promises to be a true psychological thriller set against a background of family drama.

The director also decided to bring the project to the screen in 2019 after attending a performance of the play, as he explains in a Canal+ press release: “Behind the evidence I set myself to write and film this story about life and death, mourning, self-acceptance, family, was between the idea and the realization of the months of waiting caused by the pandemic, and which will inspire me more than ever, excited, impatient, even to action And to push my boundaries even further, exploring the thriller genre, I’ve revamped my way of storytelling, which is more of a dream spread.

If Xavier Dolan is the director and screenwriter of The Night Laurier Gaudreau Woke, he will also star in the series alongside the original cast of Julie Le Breton (Plan B, Epidemic), Magalie Lépine Blondeau.Гегегма bMy Brother’s Wife), Eric Bruno (The Lie, The Coroner, Twilight of the Killer) and Patrick Hivon (The Nanny, my brother’s wife). Additionally, actress Julianne Côté (Before We Explode) is added to the cast.
