The Court of San Paolo condemned the organized crowd Alviverde, the main faction linked to Palmeiras, to the payment of $ 1 million for moral damage to the family of José Victor Dos Santos, a supporter of Cruzeiro who lost his life in an impose in the interior of San Paolo. The case occurred in October 2024, close to Mairiporã, on the highway Fernão Dias, and also caused 17 other wounded fans.

According to the process records, the ambush was the protagonist of the members of the Green Spot, who intercepted the vehicles with fans of the team of Minas Gerais. During the action, there were physical attacks and even a bus fire. José Victor was unable to resist his wounds and died on the scene. The offensive would have been a retaliation for a previous 2022 attack, when Palmeiras fans were tied to rival fans.

The defense of Palmeiras, mentioned in the process, claimed that the club does not have a formal link with the green spot. Therefore, the San Paolo team was not included among those responsible in the court decision. The organization has already been considered guilty on the basis of the Statute of the Fan and the General Law of Sport, legal provisions that provide civil punishments in the event of violence involving organized fans.

The judge responsible for the case stressed that the decision aims, in addition to repairing the pain of the family in mourning, working as a tool to combat violence in football. “The civil liability of fans is essential to curb new episodes of barbarism in the stadiums and outside of them,” says an extract of the sentence. The fine can be monetarly correct and will have interest rates if it is not paid within the legal time limit.

In addition to compensation, the organization must also bear the procedural costs and legal costs. The decision, however, is still subject to appeal, which allows the green stain to try to reversing it in higher cases. However, the sentence is considered a milestone in legal actions that involve acts of violence committed by the fans organized in Brazil.

Parallel to the decision, the former president of Green Spot, Jorge Luis Sampaio Santos, surrendered to court in December last year after having resigned. He is appointed intellectual mentor of the ambush that has victimized José Victor. According to investigations, over 100 fans members participated in the premeditated attack in the rival delegation.

Currently arrested in Guarulhos II, Jorge Luis had the transfer requested by his lawyers to the Tremombé penitentiary, known for having received prisoners of high notoriety. The defense affirms concern for the safety of the former leader, as it could contact rival fans in the current unit. The request is still under the analysis of justice.
