The DC Universe films will have a major makeover in the future, with plans for a restoration that will follow a ten-year plan, something inspired by rival Marvel.
Information shared by IGN was revealed by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav. “We did a reset. We have restructured the business that we will focus on, where there will be a team with a ten-year plan focused only on DC. It’s very similar to the structure that Alan Horn and Bob Iger put together very effectively with Kevin Feige at Disney. “
The fact that Zaslav wants to be inspired by Marvel is neither secret nor new. In April, Variety revealed that the CEO is looking for a leader for DC in the same way as Kevin Feige, who heads Marvel Studios. However, this name has not yet been announced.
The MCU has already passed its first decade, which included a hugely successful period between “Iron Man”, released in 2008, and “Avengers: Infinity War,” from 2018, which set the stage for the end of Infinity Saga. and MCU Phase 3, in “Avengers: Endgame” and “Spider-Man: Far From Home”.
Now, DC seems to want to follow this same strategy, with planning for a longer period, after trying to compete with Marvel in its own way.
Despite announcing that a reset has been made, Zaslav has not announced how or when this reset will take place. Despite him claiming they’ll restart things, the Warner Bros. Discovery CEO cited “Black Adam”, “Shazam: Wrath of the Gods” and “The Flash” as the film the studio is excited about.
Like these three films, “Aquaman 2” is in development and will likely hold up despite DC’s re-establishment. The same cannot be said for “Batgirl”, which was canceled this week.
On the other hand, movies outside the DC Extended Universe don’t seem to be involved in this reset, and “Joker 2” has earned a release date, as well as confirmation of Lady Gaga’s participation, while a sequel to “Batman” is developing.
The post DC Movies will reboot with a Marvel-inspired 10-year plan that first appeared on Digital Look.
