Tonight on TV: French Back to the Future

Tonight on TV: French Back to the Future

Every day, AlloCiné recommends watching a movie (again) on TV. Tonight: Frank Dubosky and Kad Merady turn young.

Presented at the 2015 Alpe d’Huez International Comedy Film Festival, Bis also embraces a sci-fi element based on time travel. Indeed, the protagonists, Eric and Patrice, after a drunken evening in 1986, at the age of 17, turn out to be drunkards.

Originally planned for Guillaume Canet and Gilles Leloux, the two main roles eventually went to Franck Dubosc and Cade Meraud (as well as Fabian Wolfrom and Antonin Chalon in the teenage version), who answer the screen for the first time.

A true whiff of nostalgia (even if you haven’t experienced the 80s) thanks to an authentic reconstruction of the era – we note references to Polanski’s Franti, as well as John Hughes’ American feature films – Dominic Farrugia’s film also breeds cinephiles about The Visitors, The Time Machine, The Terminator and, inevitably, Back to the Future.

In its theatrical release, the chemistry and co-starring of the lead duo, which connected Valves with communicative energy, drew 1.5 million viewers. A special mention of the stage where they (so they found themselves in the past) try to sell ideas for songs and movies that were successful at the time. Funny!
