Dave Grohl called Ilan Rubin as “The son of P#Ta Mais F#Da” during an intimate show in California, which included less known hits and songs
THE Foo Fighters presented himself with the new drummer Ilan Rubin For the first time on Saturday night, 13, at his first 2025 concert at the Fremont Theater, a place in San Luis Obispo, California with a capacity of 900 people. The event was announced by surprise a day earlier. Rubin, formerNINE INH NAILSjoined the band after the break with Josh Freesewho occupied the vacancy left by Taylor Hawkins with its death in 2022.
At one point, the vocalist Dave Grohl presented Rubin from the stage. “Everyone has talked about it”said Grohl. “Finally I have the opportunity to say, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome…’. P#ta more F#da, Ilan Rubin, is playing drums at Foo Fighters now. It’s official. They can stamp the passport.”
The surprise presentation, announced the day before, had 25 songs in total, including hits like “Everlong” and “Learn to Fly”and some songs that have not been played live for several years. Among them was “Exhausted”from the first album of Foo Fighters, which Grohl composed while still in the Nirvana and even touched to Kurt Cobain as a possible song for the closed band. Also rolled “Winnebago”another grohl composition that preceded the existence of Foo Fighters.
The announcement of the Foo Fighters Instagram show included a teaser of what seemed to be a new track. The Foo Fighters will tour soon, with shows in Indonesia, Singapore, Japan and Mexico before the end of the year.
Earlier this year, Foo Fighters launched their first unprecedented work since But Here We Are (2023): The Song “Today’s Song” and a cover of “I Don’t Wanna Hear It”from Minor Threat.
The band still does their second show with Rubin last Sunday, 15, at Observatory in Santa Ana, California.
