From the point of view of the Palestinians, the plan has some of the elements of the agreement so called the century, a plan presented by Trump in 2020, during its first term, which aimed to end the conflict and create a Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip and “islands” throughout the West Bank. Although he did not go on and was quickly rejected by the Palestinians, the plan imagined a reality of energy and logistical companies for the Gaza Strip.

This is repeated now. One of the points mentioned in the proposal cites the economic development to reconstruct Gaza from the call of a group of experts who, according to the text, “helped to give rise to some of the prospera, modern and miraculous cities of the Middle East”.

Another aspect is that it denies that initial idea – and that it caused the indignation – of a “Riviera” in the Gaza Strip, which was feared until the residents could be displaced from the territory. Trump’s plan says “Nobody will be forced to leave Gaza and those who wish to leave will be free to do it and return”. The proposal also states that there will be incentives for people to remain in the area and that they will receive opportunities, according to the text, “build a better Gaza”.

And finally, the plan guarantees that Israel will not annex any part of the territory, contrary to what two of the most radical elements of the Israeli government, the Bezalel Smotrich (Finance) and Itamar Ben Gvir ministers (national security)

Euphoria in Israel

To date, there are great positive expectations for the implementation of the plan. Opposition leader Yair Lapid says it will guarantee the so -called “support network” for Netanyahu to be able to approve it. That is, he undertakes to join the government to prevent any exit from the members of the coalition to impose the proposal.

The family hostage forum has declared, through a declaration, that it is a “historical agreement” that will allow the “rehabilitation of the people, the end of the war and a new future for the Middle East”. Still according to the declaration, “the world must exercise maximum pressure to ensure that Hamas is committed to this historic peace opportunity”.

International isolation and “yes” by Netanyahu

For the first time there is a plan presented by Donald Trump. In a situation of international isolation, as is the current case of Israel, there was not much room to deny the proposal of the main ally in the country.

In any case, if implemented, the plan allows Israel to achieve all the objectives established by the government: the return of all the hostages, the possibility of the disarmament of Hamas and the guarantee that the Gaza strip does not represent a threat to security for Israel.

In addition, there is an unprecedented scenario: explicit support for the plan of most Arab and Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates. If Hamas disagrees, Israel has received public authorization from the United States that could attack the Palestinian group again.

If this plan presented by Trump is truly implemented, Israel will have historical security guarantees and can take a new step towards an almost complete regional insertion, those who preach the end of the Jewish state is even more isolated.
