Jim Carrey is returning to the movies: We know his next movie, and it won’t be a Sonic sequel

It’s not time for Jim Carrey to retire yet! After three episodes of Sonic and while he waits to reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik in the fourth opus expected in our cinemas on March 24, 2027, the actor is about to join another family project: the adaptation of the animated series The Jetsons.

The series created by the famous William Hanna and Joseph Barbera (like The Flintstones or Scooby-Doo), broadcast from 1962 to 1963, then from 1985 to 1987, tells the life of an American family from the future: The Jetsons. They are George, a happy family man married to Jane, with whom he has two children: Judy, a fashion-obsessed teenager who falls in love with any handsome boy at 15, and Elroy, 8, but talented. Without forgetting the clumsy dog Astro, the robot Rosie, who is very useful for cleaning, or the extraterrestrial orbiter who joins the story after some time.

From the director of Jurassic World

As in The Flintstones, the goal is therefore to transfer the model of the American family of that time to another era: prehistory on the one hand and the future on the other. according to TheWrapRumor has it that Jim Carrey will play George in the feature film, which will be directed by Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World 1 and 3), but nothing has been specified about the synopsis or the visual approach. However, we can imagine that in the tradition of Tomorrowland or the recent Fantastic 4 , the feature film plays the retrofuturism card, just to stay true to the original material.

Meanwhile, in France and in the present (through the eyes of the past), Jim Carrey shines on February 27, receiving the César d’honneur that honors his entire career.
