In 2018, Netflix announced to the world that it had bought the rights to adapt CS Lewis’ epic fantasy novels The Chronicles of Narnia, rights previously held by Disney, which made three now iconic feature films. The streaming platform is starting from scratch this time and is going to bring a new story to the screen. We will explain everything to you.
Which book will be adapted?
From Narnia, we know the story of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy, thanks to the films The Four Kings and Queens of the Kingdom. But the world imagined by Lewis is much bigger, because he wrote a total of 7 novels.
Of the first 7 films that Netflix hopes to produce, the producers chose to adapt the first volume of the story, namely The Chronicles of Narnia: The Sorcerer’s Nephew. The latter, published in 1955, is a prequel that takes place before the events of volume 2, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
what will it be about
Paul sometimes finds life in London to be unpleasant… until he meets his new neighbor, Digory. He lives with his mother, who is seriously ill, and his old uncle, who behaves strangely. This forces the two children to try the magic rings that will transport them to an unknown world. Then the most extraordinary adventure begins…
This is the synopsis of The Sorcerer’s Nephew, which takes us into a world yet unexplored in cinema. Our two heroes will travel not with a magical wardrobe (which will be mentioned in the film anyway), but thanks to mysterious rings. Along the way, they cross paths with Jadis, also known as the White Witch.
Together with the sorcerer’s nephew, we will witness the creation of Narnia by Aslan and discoverorigin story The main antagonist of the fantasy saga. This first installment should be full of eye candy and Easter eggs for the Pevensie brothers and the adventures that await them in the future.
with what casting
It was Greta Gerwig (Barbie) who was commissioned by Netflix to adapt this quintessential work of fantasy, with a generous budget of $200 million. The director and his teams have chosen two actors unknown to the general public for the role of two young heroes: Beatrice Campbell will play the role of Polly, and David McKenna will play the role of Diggory. Carey Mulligan (Gatsby) steps into the shoes of her dying mother, Mabel.
Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Witch’s Nephew returns to central London today with police chase scenes filmed at iconic landmarks.

It’s Emma Mack, revealed in Netflix’s Sex Education, who will have the difficult task of playing Jadis, the White Witch. Meryl Streep lends her voice to Aslan. Finally, Daniel Craig has been cast in a mystery role (but hopefully he’ll play the witch and Diggory’s uncle).
