Band led by Axl Rose (vocals), Slash (guitar) and Duff McKagan (bass) will visit five cities in the country over the next two weeks
THE Guns N’ Roses returns to Brazil this week. The group, now a septet, will visit five cities with their new tour “Because What You Want and What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things” (“Because what you want and what you will get are two completely different things.”).
Shows are confirmed in Florianópolis (21/10, at Arena Opus), São Paulo (25/10, at Allianz Parque), Curitiba (28/10, at Pedreira Paulo Leminski), Cuiabá (31/10, at Arena Pantanal) and Brasília (02/11, at Arena BRB Mané Garrincha). The fourth city, capital of Mato Grosso, welcomes them for the first time.
For all dates, the Raimundos will be the opening attraction. Formed today by Digão (voice and guitar), Marquim (guitar), Caio Cunha (battery) and Jean Moura (bass), the group released its ninth studio album in May, XXX.

The new member
Guns N’ Roses hasn’t been to Brazil since 2022, when they played at the festival Rock in Rio and went on a long solo tour. The new visit will be the first with the drummer Isaac Carpenter (former member of Awolnation, Loaded, Loudermilk and other projects), replacing Frank Ferrer, who left after 19 years of service.
Before visiting our country, in the midst of a long tour of Latin America, Guns N’ Roses played with Carpenter in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. He was even the drummer during the show at the festival. Back to the Beginningwhich, in July, marked the farewells of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.
In addition to Isaac, Guns currently has Axl Rose (voice), Slash (guitar), Richard Fortus (guitar), Duff McKagan (low), Dizzy Reed (keyboards) and Melissa Reese (keyboards and synthesizers). And you can say in advance that the 46-year-old drummer has pleased everyone wherever he goes.

Energetic and with a good performance, Carpenter gave new energy to the group. You can see proof of this in several videos of recent performances, even Back to the Beginning, with a very different repertoire than usual as it featured more Sabbath songs.
At the July event, Isaac did well in executing the not-so-easy lines created by Bill Ward for the Sabbath — in “Never Say Die”, “Junior’s Eyes” and “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” — as for reproducing Adler’s creations in one’s own “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Paradise City”. He managed to play everything respectfully to the original recordings, but introducing his own style, with a more punk-oriented twist, different from what Ferrer brought.
The rest of the formation follows the pattern already known by Brazilian fans. Now 63 years old, Axl Rose continues to suffer from vocal inconstancy perceived over the last two decades, with more bad nights than good ones, but still with a high level of delivery.
As expected, Slash and Duff McKagan are the highlights of the instrumental, especially the former, one of the great guitarists in the history of hard rock. And although he has been in the group since 2002, Richard Fortus still seems like a good surprise for some of the public, as he is extremely skilled and technical — to the point of having some moments of “stealing” the spotlight.
The current setlist
It is difficult to create a 100% exact setlist to be played in Brazil, as Guns N’ Roses tends to make changes to the songs and order for each show. However, a standard is followed for most presentations.
The classics are practically guaranteed “Welcome to the Jungle” (in the opening), “Paradise City” (at closing), “Sweet Child O’Mine”, “Estranged”, “Mr Brownstone”, “It’s So Easy”, “Nighttrain” and “November Rain”in addition to the B sides “Bad Obsession” and “Double Talkin’ Jive” and of “Chinese Democracy”title track from the only album without Slash and Duff McKagan. The covers of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” (Bob Dylan) and “Live and Let Die” (Wings) are also right.
From there, there are small or large variations. The following tracks have appeared in most shows, not necessarily together:
- “Absurd” and “Hard Skool”two of four recordings released by Guns since Slash and Duff’s returns;
- “Slither”original from Velvet Revolvera group that the guitarist and bassist were part of in the 2000s;
- “Rocket Queen”track that ends the album Appetite for Destruction (1987);
- “Eat”disk closure Use Your Illusion I (1991);
- “Civil War” and “You Could Be Mine”originating from Use Your Illusion II (1991);
- “Witchita Lineman”version of the original song by Jimmy Webb;
- Some cover of Black Sabbath in honor of Ozzy Osbournewhich will probably be “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” or “Never Say Die”but it could also be (more unlikely) “Junior’s Eyes”;
- Some song for Duff to sing, maybe “New Rose” (from The Damned), “Attitude” (from Misfits), “Thunder and Lightning” (from ThinLizzy) or “So Fine” (from Guns himself).
The duration of the show is usually around 2 hours and 55 minutes. It can, however, vary to a little more or a little less. If you are going to the show and in standing areas, such as the dance floor, be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
