Nissan launches the new Elgrand with a system that even prevents passengers from getting sick

Japanese automaker accelerates “Re:Nissan” plan with exciting models and aims for Toyota’s great success in the premium minivan market in Japan

The Mexican Ivan Spinoza, global CEO of Nissan, presented the new generation of Elgrand on Wednesday 29th at the Japan Mobility Show, a sumptuous model that will directly attack the Toyota Alphard, which is very popular in Japan. Elgrand is on a mission to reintroduce Nissan as a strong option in the premium minivan segment.

Nissan begins its growth strategy with the new Elgrand, Patrol and Roox

The fourth generation model builds on the legacy of the original 1997 Nissan Elgrand. The beautiful minivan has a sophisticated design, electrified powertrain and, according to Nissan, will be able to offer greater driving pleasure and comfort to everyone on board. The launch will take place in the Japanese summer of 2026. The automaker promises “extraordinary journeys that inspire emotions”.

Ivan Spinoza heads Nissan’s global renewal. This is why the domestic market is fundamental, even if Mexico currently represents a gold mine for the Japanese brand. In addition to the Elgrand minivan, Spinoza said Nissan will bring the new Patrol (SUV) for the first half of 2027, the facelifted Araya (electric) and the new Roox kei-car.

The idea is to “revitalize Japan”, that is, to position Nissan as the country’s flagship brand at a time when Japanese industry is being attacked by the Chinese. BYD, for example, showed off its first kei-car, the Racco, at the Japan Mobility Show.

“A strong and vibrant Japanese market is important to Nissan’s global success. We are committed to rekindling that spirit by honoring our heritage, launching Patrol as the new flagship for Japan, elevating Elgrand’s legacy through electrification and advanced intelligence, and pushing technological boundaries with our electric vehicles. We aim to offer a range of compelling vehicles, from the smallest Roox to our flagship models, that not only meet everyday needs but also inspire excitement and pride.” (Ivan Spinoza)

Nissan Elgrand is equipped with the e-Power system and electric traction to provide greater stability

The new Elgrand is exclusively equipped with Nissan’s third-generation e-Power hybrid system, which features a newly developed engine and a 5-in-1 modular electric propulsion system.

The Nissan Elgrand will be the first model in the company’s global lineup to feature Nissan’s updated e-4ORCE electric all-wheel drive system. The rear electric motor’s torque suppresses body roll during acceleration and deceleration, providing greater stability for passengers and reducing the likelihood of motion sickness.

For the driver, the e-4ORCE system actively uses rear engine torque during cornering for a more enjoyable and engaging experience. According to Nissan, an intelligent dynamic suspension system minimizes body roll and maintains a flat ride.

The new Elgrand will feature Nissan’s latest ProPilot system, which, for the first time, offers hands-free operation at speeds below 50km/h. Additionally, ProPilot 2.0 will be available, offering autonomous highway driving and lane change assist, making long-distance travel more comfortable and enjoyable.
