Tonight on TV: We almost forgot about this comedy, but it’s one of Fabrizio Luchin’s best roles

Think you know everything about Fabrizio Luchin’s career? We challenge you again: have you already heard of the wonderful comedy L’Année Juliette, released in 1995, five years after the actress made her public debut with La Discrète? If not, we encourage you to tune in this Wednesday night to Arte, who has a great idea for his broadcast. We promise you won’t regret it: Luchin just finds one of his best roles yet!

L’Année Juliette makes us follow the daily life of Camille, an anesthetist who maintains a relationship with Clementine, a married woman. The latter ardently wants to live with him, but he does not want to. After returning from a professional trip where she met Stephanie, Camille unwittingly takes the suitcase of a concert flautist named Juliet, who she mistakes for herself. He uses this twist of fate to “escape” his two affairs by inventing a fake love story, but things don’t go as planned…

A delicious comedy of manners with a central theme of the lie of love, L’Année Juliette is a fantasy perfectly suited to Fabre Luchin. The actor, perfect as a seductive bachelor caught up in his mythomania, surrounds himself for the occasion with an excellent supporting cast, including Filipina Leroy-Beaulier, Valérie Stroh, Marine Delterme and Didier Flaman.

With a perfectly crafted script, this delicious scene marks the first stage of a rich collaboration between Fabrizio Luchin and director Philippe Le Gua. The two men would then meet again in The Cost of Living, Women on the 6th Floor, and Alceste on a Bicycle.
