The SUV produced in Bahia introduces unprecedented technology that combines the flexible engine with the plug-in hybrid system
The BYD Song Pro with plug-in flex hybrid technology has already become one of the most discussed topics in the Brazilian automotive sector, as it represents an important milestone for the country. The model will be the first car in the world to combine a flex engine with a plug-in hybrid system, as highlighted by the Automotive world for PCD in this first paragraph.
The news was confirmed during a ceremony at the BYD plant in Camaçari (BA), where authorities and managers participated in the event celebrating the national production of the SUV. At the time, the brand reiterated that the development involved Brazilian and Chinese teams working together, demonstrating unprecedented technological cooperation for the country.
Visually, the Song Pro follows the new global Dragon Face language, with sharper headlights, a redesigned grille and a chrome bar joining the headlight clusters. Meanwhile, the rear has received specific changes, such as a redesigned bumper and wheels with a new design, bringing the SUV in line with the brand’s most recent international launches.
The big difference lies in the mechanical package, which combines a 1.5 flex engine with a plug-in hybrid system based on DM-i technology. This solution will allow predominantly electric daily use, with the advantage of refueling with petrol or ethanol when necessary, reducing emissions and the cost per kilometer traveled compared to conventional systems.
According to BYD, performance will be close to current versions of the Song Pro, which reach up to 235 hp combined, but with a lower environmental impact and high energy efficiency. Data such as final power, torque and autonomy have not yet been released, but the expectation is that the model offers competitive numbers within the segment.
The first batch includes thirty units destined for COP30, a climate event to be held in Belém (PA), as highlighted by the Automotive world for PCD.
