Depay scores again and celebrates Corinthians’ third consecutive victory: “They give confidence”

The striker fills Timão’s net after three months and analyzes the last stretch of the season, with a possible fight for a place in the Libertadores

In front of more than 42 thousand fans at the Neo Química Arena, Memphis Depay found the net again for Corinthians after three months. After all, the Dutchman helped the Sao Paulo team beat Grêmio 2-0 in the 31st round of the Brazilian championship and keep their dream of reaching the G7 alive. Leaving the field, the player spoke about Timão’s moment, who achieved his third consecutive victory, and said that triumphs give confidence in the final part of the season.

“We have to make the right decision to be able to achieve more objectives, and this is part of what I think we did very well today. Now there are three victories in a row, as we managed very well at the end of last year’s championship. And if we repeat a sequence like this, we can fight for the Copa do Brasil and for important things in the Brasileirão,” he underlined.

“I think when you win games, the team has more confidence. Wins give confidence. Often we have to build a game from behind and today we did that very well. We had a very good position and we can still improve. But, of course, when we have confidence, we can win more games. And that’s the goal, to win more games. The team is focused, very focused, so I’m happy with that,” he added.

Timão’s moment

With this result, coach Dorival Júnior’s men have reached 42 points and closed the gap with the G7. After all, Fluminense and Botafogo stumbled in the group, and the team’s difference with Tricolor, currently in seventh place, is five points.

Finally, in the next round, Timão will face Red Bull Bragantino, on Wednesday (5th), at 7pm (Brasilia time), at the Cícero de Souza Marques. The team tries to win another one to get even closer to fighting for a place in the next Libertadores.
