Milli Vanilli’s biopic reveals the first photos

Leonine Studios has released the first photos of Milli Vanilli’s biopic. Named after the musical duo’s biggest hit, “Girl You Know It’s True” features Tijan Njie (“Stifado”) and Elan Ben Ali (“Goutte d’or”) in the roles of Robert Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan, the Milli Vanilli .

In addition to them, the cast highlights Matthias Schweighöfer as German music producer Frank Farian, mentor of the group, who can be seen in an image below. Schweighöfer is the best known member of the production, thanks to his role as Dieter in the Netflix franchise “Army of the Dead”.

Milli Vanilli has won several awards, including a Grammy in the late 1980s for the hit “Girl You Know It’s True”, but the Franco-German duo was later denounced as a musical hoax. They were hired dancers to pretend to be singers, while Farian paid professional musicians to sing on recordings.

The film has a screenplay and direction by the German Simon Verhoeven (from the horror “A Request for Friendship”) and has started shooting a few days ago. There is no premiere date yet.
