Walt Disney Animation Studios has announced the production of a new animation, “Wish”, which will tell the story of the emergence of the wishing star from enchanted fairy tales – and which won the iconic song “I Wish Upon a Star”, included in “Pinocchio” (1940).
The production will have the original voice of Ariana DeBose, Oscar winner 2022 for “Love, Sublime Amor”, and was conceived by directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, responsible for the phenomenon “Frozen” (2013) and its sequel in 2019. .
The plot of “Wish” will follow Asha (DeBose), a 17-year-old girl who sees a darkness in her realm that no one else sees, so in a moment of desperation, she makes a passionate appeal to the stars. The answer to Asha’s wish is a real star falling from the sky to help her on her journey.
DeBose made a surprise appearance at D23 to perform an unreleased song from the film, titled “More of Us”. See an excerpt below.
In addition to her, Alan Tudyk (“Resident Alien”) also attended the announcement to reveal that in the film she will be voicing a goat named Valentino.
The launch is scheduled for November 2023.
