Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for “Fabelmans,” Steven Spielberg’s new film that garnered rave reviews at the Toronto Film Festival.
The film is a dramatization of the director’s childhood and adolescence memories, who drew inspiration from his own life to tell a love story for his family and for cinema itself. The preview shows how the two poles come together, through the impact of the films on little ‘Fabelman’ imagination and his mother’s encouragement to become a director. There are also scenes of friendships and prejudices that the young man suffered for being Jewish, as well as a beautiful photograph of the time.
Spielberg co-wrote the script with Tony Kushner, with whom he worked on “Munich”, “Lincoln” and the remake of “Amor, Sublime Amor”.
The cast features Michelle Williams (“All the Money in the World”) and Paul Dano (“Batman”) as the parents, Gabriel LaBelle (“Predator”) as the teenage version of the protagonist, Seth Rogen (“Neighbors”) as his uncle Chloe East (“Generation”), his uncle’s favorite, Julia Butters (“Beautiful, Demure and Home” / American Housewife), Jeannie Berlin (“Café Society”), Gabriel Bateman (“Child’s Play”), Nicolas Cantu (“The Walking Dead: World Beyond”), veteran Judd Hirsch (“Numb3rs”) and even director David Lynch, known for films like “Blue Velvet” and “City of Dreams”.
Widely acclaimed and with a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes following its Toronto premiere, the film will only premiere in Brazil on February 9, three months after its commercial release in the United States.
